Order IconA warrant canary is a method by which a service provider aims to inform its users that the provider has not been served with a secret government subpoena.

A warrant canary may be posted by the provider to inform users of dates that they have not been served a secret subpoena. If the canary is not updated for the time period specified by the host or if the warning is removed, users are to assume that the host has been served with such a subpoena.

The TerraNet staff who have digitally signed this file [1]
state the following:

1. The date of issue of this canary is February 04, 2018.

2. There have been 0 Urgent Security Bulletins published so far.

3. The TerraNet Helpdesk Signing Key fingerprint is:

    75FD 32A0 0F4B 8CB5 AF47  BF83 17B9 B991 E908 51F6

4. No warrants have ever been served to us with regard to any of our
customers, our hardware or our projects (e.g. to hand out the private
signing keys or to introduce backdoors).

5. We plan to publish the next of these canary statements in the first
two weeks of Q2 2018. Special note should be taken if no new canary
is published by that time or if the list of statements changes without
plausible explanation.

Special announcements

* We caution you to operate under the assumption that all relevant
infrastructure is permanently compromised. This means that we and
you should assume NO trust in any of the servers or services which
host or provide any TerraNet-related data.

* The publishing of this canary was delayed approximately two weeks
due to a hectic month. We will make a better effort to maintain the
accuracy of our canary publication schedule in the future.

* The Spectre and Meltdown attacks on the x86 isa present a real and
ongoing threat to anybody who keeps a significant amount of their
personal or business data in 'the cloud.' While currently we are
unaware of any 'driveby' exploits of Spectre and Meltdown in the wild,
it is only a matter of time before they appear. The only real fix
for these exploits will be the development of new CPUs which rectify
the problem in silicon. Microcode updates and kernel patches may
mitigate some of the threat, but they seem unlikely to completely
remove it. Be extra vigilant with computing secrets in the coming months
and quite possibly years.

Disclaimers and notes

This canary scheme is not infallible. Although signing the declaration
makes it very difficult for a third party to produce arbitrary
declarations, it does not prevent them from using force or other
means, like blackmail or compromising the signers' laptops, to coerce
us to produce false declarations.

The news feeds quoted below (Proof of freshness) serves to demonstrate
that this canary could not have been created prior to the date stated.
It shows that a series of canaries was not created in advance.

This declaration is merely a best effort and is provided without any
guarantee or warranty. It is not legally binding in any way to
anybody. None of the signers should be ever held legally responsible
for any of the statements made here.
